I’m not one who likes to work out with kids. I prefer to go workout on my own. However, that is not always possible with 3 little ones running around. I have found over the last few weeks some ways to let them still feel involved without actually doing my entire workout with me.
1. Let them ride their bike along side you while you walk/run. In my case my kiddo’s like to ride the scooter sometimes too.
2. Let them pick the exercise/number. For example, I have 2 kids who can understand and want to help. I let one pick the exercise(ie: crunches, leg lifts, plank, sit ups, burpees, ect) and then I let the other child pick the number of reps. Sometimes they get crazy and pick 7,931 but, for the most part they have learned to pick anywhere between 10-30.
3. Stretching. My kids like to stretch with me before and after my c25k training’s. It doesn’t bother me to have them sitting next to me doing the same thing and they love it and feel helpful.
4. Water Breaks. There is a picnic table outside of our house and when I go for my run/walks the kids put a bottle of water on there and I make sure to loop around and grab it. I make the house my halfway point. They feel special for helping out and I get some much need water.
(lets face it no one looks that good during a water break )
Those are just a FEW of the ways my kids like to be involved with me when I do my workouts.
How do you involve your child/ren? Any special workouts they do with you?
